Week 12: Final Preparation & Formative Feedback

Last Preparation for Presentation

 Embroidery Motifs on Designs

We finalized these as the embroidery we are going to use on our designs. Just like our inspiration, the Matroyshka dolls, rich colours are used.
Primary, Secondary colours and colours used on embroidery

As observed from the Pantone website, these are the colour we have finalized for our vibrant and youthful collection.

Linen

Denim

Flannel

Lastly, we have also finalized our main fabric to be linen, denim and flannel. This is because linen is the most suited fabric for the dense embroidery we will be doing, whereas denim and flannel are great materials to help stay warm ,especially since we are designing an Autumn/Winter collection.

Design Sketches/Drafts

Previously, I have drawn these for our collection. However, after discussing with the group, I had decided to draw new designs, because we needed more layers in our collection and we have also decided to use fur on the edge as trimmings only. We have also decided to add more denim.

Weekly Observations

Crop Shirt Jacket with Ruffled Lantern Sleeves
(Extracted from Lookbook: 'Zac Samuel-Losing You/maffashion' by Juliett K.)

I liked how the crop jacket and sleeve detail really enhances and bring life to the look.
Also, AGAIN, THE RUFFLES! Now I'm thinking, maybe I'm just attracted to clothing with ruffles...

On a side note, this also reminded me of a similar jacket I saw at Zara, and it had feather details at the hem!

(Taken at Zara @ Marina Bay Sands)

This denim and feather combination was a first for me. In my opinion, this isn't the nicest jacket, but otherwise I feel like denim and feather would make an interesting pair. Maybe when used on the shoulder, like an epaulette? Or on the front pockets?
